What is Anger Management Counselling?

Anger Management Counselling allows you to explore your anger in a safe and non-judgmental setting. Your Therapist will work with you to understand your triggers and help you regulate your emotional responses as well as exploring and addressing any underlying factors which may contribute to your anger issues.  Anger Management Counselling is an extremely effective way of learning to manage and conquer any anger issues.

Why do we get angry?

  • We have been emotionally triggered by a situation
  • Feeling like we are under a lot of pressure.
  • A traumatic event
  • Feeling you are being underappreciated or overwhelmed
  • Unresolved grief
  • learned behaviours from childhood
  • low self esteem

When is anger management counselling necessary?

Anger is a normal, healthy emotion and there are many reasons why one can feel angry. Anger becomes a problem when you feel like it is having a negative effect on you or your relationships. In some cases it can feel like you have little control over it and that you are lashing out at others or at yourself. If you feel a lack of control over your anger, anger management counselling is a very good option.

How can counselling help with Anger Management ?

There are many ways it can help. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help work on our thoughts, behaviours, and emotions so we can be better enabled to deal with situations as they arise and respond rather than react.

However, there are also other approaches to Psychotherapy that can be helpful, such as Person-Centred Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.
