What is Disordered Eating?
Disordered eating refers to any relationship with food which has gotten out of control and is having an impact on your daily living. Disordered eating may occur if you develop a complicated or difficult relationship with your body. This is usually as a result of emotional distress or trauma either happening in the present or retained from the past.
Can counselling help with disordered eating?
Yes it can. Recovering from patterns of disordered eating and eating disorders can be long and complex. Working with an experienced psychotherapist you can begin to understand this process and carve a path to developing a healthier relationship with your body and with food. Your therapist will recognise that as each person is different so each person needs their own tailored therapeutic approach. Your therapist will work with you to find the best ways to support you in your journey.
