What is Sexual Assault ?

Sexual abuse and sexual assault refer to many different types of abuse including rape, child molestation, non-consensual sexual contact and non-contact sexual abuse. People of all ages, genders and races can experience sexual assault. There are crisis services available in Ireland such as the emergency services, Accident & Emergency services in hospitals if you need a physical exam and the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. 

Can counselling help if I have been sexually assaulted? 

Yes. Counselling can provide the space for you to begin to heal from the emotional trauma of sexual assault. Whether it is in the immediate aftermath or sometime after, a qualified and experienced therapist can help you to create a place where you feel safe enough to explore the impact of the trauma of what you have experienced as well as how to move forward.
